TIPS ON RAISING PLEDGE DOLLARS

Beginners are always surprised at their success at collecting pledges. While it may seem a bit overwhelming at first, it’s really quite easy! Remember, you are not collecting pledges for yourself. You are collecting pledges to support the important programs and services of the Women’s Resource Center and every dollar counts!

What to do:

  • Start collecting pledges early!
  • Set goals and make them known. Get the word out that you are raising money and training for the run/walk! (View sample fundraising letters and emails.)
  • Ask your employer to match what you raise and double your money!
  • Be knowledgeable about the cause and where the money goes.
  • Remember to say thank you with a smile! Send a note to each individual thanking them for helping you reach your goal. Let them know they are making a real difference.
  • Keep people updated as you work toward your pledge goal!
  • Remind people that donations are tax-deductible and go toward a great cause.

 Who to ask:

  • Ask people you see each day.
  • Go through your phone lists, address books, e-mail lists, work Rolodex, etc. Think of EVERYONE you know who might support you in this great endeavor.
  • Continue to add people to your list as you think of them. Keep a list next to your phone or computer.
  • Don’t forget:
  • Family, in-laws

  • Friends and co-workers

  • Significant other’s co-workers

  • School friends

  • Business associates, customers or vendors

  • Trainer or fitness instructor

  • Your banker

  • Your doctors

  • Kid’s dance/music/gymnastics teacher

 How to ask:

  • Ask your friends and co-workers in person, either at the office or at social events.
  • Send e-mails to all your contacts: family, friends and co-workers. Ask them to please forward the e-mail message to their family and friends if they don’t mind.
  • Write personal notes and mail them. Everyone loves to get mail! Inspire them with your new and exciting fitness and fundraising goal.
  • Encourage everyone to give something. An easy goal is $2 per mile from 25 people! If you walk 13 miles, you'd raise an amazing $650!! But remember, any dollar amount that you raise will make a difference.

Be creative and remember to have fun!
The Women's Resource Center appreciates your support!
