FREE Pre-Event Workshops for Participants

When you sign up to Run with Purpose for the Women’s Resource Center, we’ll be there to give you the support you need to reach your goal! Mark your calendar to attend any (or all) of the following FREE workshops designed specifically to give you the tools — and confidence — to get you to the finish line, while having FUN at the same time.

Taking on the Challenge — Training and Goal-Setting for Endurance Events  
Friday, July 21

Life Coach Mindy Stern will discuss the psychological and emotional benefits of training for and completing an endurance event, as well as time management strategies, creating a personal vision for “race day success,” and setting realistic training goals.
 
Give Your Motivation a Boost — Strategies to Enhance Your Training

Life Coach Mindy Stern presents this workshop to explore where motivation comes from, and to offer concrete strategies to jumpstart motivation and mental strategies that enhance training.
 
How to Avoid Injury — Simple Stretches to Stay Strong
Friday, August 25

Physical Therapist and Professional Athlete Ashlie Angel will explain the value of stretching when participating in an endurance event, and will provide specific stretches that anyone can do, regardless of their athletic level.
 
Eating for Energy — Fueling Up Before, During and After the Race
Friday, September 15

Ashlie Angel will discuss the importance of proper nutrition before, during and after an endurance race, and offer specific options based upon the length of the race and energy required. Angel has a degree in nutrition and is a physical therapist and professional athlete.
 
Pre-Race Tips — Everything You Need to Know Before Race Day
Friday, September 29

Matt Kelly, Managing Director of the Durango Double — A Festival for Runners, will answer specific questions about all of the races including what to expect from each course and how best to prepare at the starting line. An experienced marathoner, Matt will also answer questions about running endurance races.
