Men Who Grill 2010:
Coldwell Banker team sears the
competition with grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp, wins coveted Golden
Spatula, People's Choice and Best Seafood award
 |
| Durango Mountain Resort's Men In Pink serve
up delicious fruit kabobs, skewered grilled shrimp and green chiles and
other great food during Men Who Grill! Men in Pink won the Bronze Fork
Award for their delightfully pink theme in honor of Breast Cancer
Awareness. To see more photos from Men Who Grill, visit the Women's
Resource Center's BuzzTown.org

The
shrimp, coated with grated cheddar cheese and bread crumbs, wrapped in
bacon, grilled until crispy, then
napped
with a delicious sweet molasses sauce, was the hands-down favorite food
served up during the seventh-annual Men Who Grill competition held on
Saturday, June 12, in downtown Durango.
The
winning recipe, prepared by the Coldwell Banker team of Justin Osborn,
Max Hutcheson, Jarrod Nixon and Bill Evans, earned three awards
– the People's Choice Award, the Golden Spatula Award for
Best Cuisine, and the Best Seafood Award.
Other top award-winners were Nacho Libre, the WRC Fatherhood Program,
winning the Golden Fork Award for best costumes and theme. And the
Judges' Choice Golden Champagne Award was bestowed upon the "Afternoon
Delight" team, whose spread included smoked salmon, grilled asparagus,
fire-roasted pork with slaw and homemade pickle chutney, AND dessert!
More than
500 people enjoyed SERIOUSLY Good Food and SIZZLING Hot Fun with 15
grill teams competing
for the People's Choice Award, Best Costume, and Best Recipe. With
everything from lamb sliders to fruit kabobs and Steamworks beer on
tap, no one
left hungry.
Though
slightly smaller than past Men Who Grill
celebrations with competition from other three other major special
events occurring
in town on Saturday, the fun(d)-raiser nevertheless raised a little
more than
$11,000 to benefit Women’s Resource Center programs. The
event also was a great
friend-raiser with many teams – and party-goers –
vowing to return again next
year.
