Events and Fund Raisers

Throughout the year, the Women's Resource Center hosts a variety of special events to raise funds for or awareness of our programs and services.

  • Run With Purpose is an annual "pledge event" for the Women's Resource Center in which runners and walkers are invited to meet their own fitness goals while working toward a larger goal of helping women. The event has been held in conjunction with a local race and participants raise money for WRC by obtaining pledges for every mile they run or walk in the race. Please contact the Center at 970-247-1242, or email women@wrcdurango.org if you'd like to be involved. And stay tuned for a bigger and better Run with Purpose to be associated with a local race in 2008!
  • Men Who Grill is the Women's Resource Center's annual summertime grilling competition and "fun-raiser". This year's event will be held June 7, in downtown Durango. During Men Who Grill, ticket holders get to sample tasty grilled tidbits from dozens of grilling teams (both amateur and professional chefs) who wear costumes and decorate their booths with their own unique theme. Attendees help choose the winners in a variety of wacky categories based upon both food and presentation. The event also features live music from the Kirk James Band, free soda and water, and beer for sale.
