Welcome Home, Christy!
The WRC leadership team is delighted to welcome back a familiar face: Christy Schaerer! Christy has accepted the role of Interim Executive Director, bringing her extensive experience and passion back to the organization she helped build.
Having served as both Program Director (2010–2016) and Executive Director (2016–2023), Christy is uniquely attuned to the needs of our community. From being part of the team, establishing our Scholarship and Low-Bono programs to launching fan-favorite events like Men in Heels, her impact on the WRC is immeasurable.
We are so grateful to have her guidance during this time of transition. Please join us in welcoming Christy back to the team as we enter this exciting new chapter.
We Help Empower Individuals In Need
Women’s Resource Center advocates for the personal empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of women and girls in La Plata County.
What We Do
We offer a supportive environment for individuals in need to access empowering community resources. WRC offers resources for domestic violence, financial assistance, healthcare, housing sexual assault and much more. Whether its support with food, shelter, clothing or help with a business, we’ll take the time to learn about the unique challenges you face and can help you develop a plan of action to get you back on your feet and on your way to economic self-sufficiency.
We encourage individuals to call or visit our offices to access our full range of services and support. We work 1 on 1 with our clients to assess their immediate needs as well as long term goals. No appointment necessary, all individuals are welcome!
